Avoid surprisesIn particular, avoid surprising a client on an invoice. At best, you look inept. At worst, you look shifty. Make sure everyone agrees and truly understands the payment terms of a contract. Make totals and payment schedules stand out, and reference those clauses on the invoice. While coming in under what was expected is a pleasant surprise, now your client will expect all future estimates to be high. Better to have come up with the lower figure from the start. |
